Fremont Presbyterian Church seeks a musically gifted and confident person of character and integrity who is spiritually mature, has a passion for music ministry and has an ability to lead people with both patience and humor to serve in a full-time position as Minister of Music and Worship Arts.

Primary Position Responsibilities:

• Provides spiritual leadership, guidance, nurture and support to Music and Worship Arts participants

• Provides artistic and technical leadership for a variety of musical groups and leaders, including weekly direction of the primary adult choir, oversight of children’s music programs and oversight of the Fremont Music Academy

• Collaborates with pastoral staff in planning weekly traditional worship services

• Provides musical leadership for special events such as Christmas Concerts, special worship services, and camps

• Leads the growth and expansion of Music and Worship Arts programs in the church

• Provides administrative leadership for the Music and Worship Arts ministry including budgeting, instrument maintenance, and coordination.

Education and Experience Required:

• An advanced degree in music (choral conducting, preferred) or the equivalent in experience.

• Proven experience as a director of a church music program with leadership and administrative responsibility for choirs, musical ensembles, and choral and instrumental conducting.

• Experience in traditional worship and praise, and an appreciation for traditional and contemporary worship and praise.

• Leadership abilities with children; experience and appreciation for children’s music.

• Familiarity with and supportive of the worship traditions of the Reformed Church.

• Spiritual strength, wisdom, a commitment to following Jesus Christ as Lord, and a commitment to leading others to experience and follow Him; a pastoral heart; ability to encourage, support and nurture others.

• Skill in planning, staffing, managing, and conducting adult traditional choirs, and conducting instrumental music; skill in planning, developing, and implementing on-going and special worship arts programs and events.

• Knowledge of the art and science of good vocal production and ensemble, and how to teach it in a choral setting; knowledge of principles and practices of rehearsing and conducting choral and instrumental music; skill in achieving a beautiful choral sound.

• Knowledge and appreciation of traditional and contemporary choral and congregational music repertoire.

• Strong relational, communication, and collaboration skills.
